Ingredients

To create this delightful watermelon juice, you’ll need just a handful of simple ingredients:

  • 1 large watermelon (about 15-20 pounds)

  • 2 to 3 limes

  • A large handful of frozen berries of your choice (approximately 1 cup)

These ingredients not only create a refreshing drink but also provide essential nutrients and vitamins, particularly vitamin C and antioxidants, that kids will enjoy!

Preparing the Watermelon

Let’s get started on preparing the watermelon!

  1. Cut the Watermelon: Begin by slicing the watermelon in half.

  2. Scoop Out the Chunks: Use a large spoon to scoop out chunks from one half of the watermelon. Aim to get as much juicy flesh as possible. A large watermelon can yield around more than 6 cups of juice!

  3. Blend It Up: Place the watermelon chunks into a blender or tall container.

Adding the Limes

Now for a zesty twist!

  1. Peel the Limes: Peel the limes to avoid too much bitterness from the rind.

  2. Toss Them In: Add the peeled limes into the blender with the watermelon chunks.

The sweet watermelon pairs perfectly with the tartness of the lime, And the lime juice helps stop the watermelon from oxidizing, keeping it tasting, super juicy and fresh!

Blending the Mixture

Next, it’s time to blend all the ingredients together!

  1. Blend Until Juicy: Use an immersion blender or regular blender. Blend on medium speed until the mixture looks juicy.

During this step, the vibrant colors and refreshing aromas will fill your kitchen, making it feel like summer!

Adding Frozen Berries

Let’s enhance our watermelon juice with some frozen berries!

  1. Add the Berries: Mix in about 1 cup of your favorite frozen berries, thawed till squishy is easiest. Whether you opt for strawberries, blackberries, or raspberries, or even cherrries, they will add both flavor and a beautiful color to your juice.

  2. Blend Until Smooth: Blend the mixture again until smooth and well combined.

Straining the Juice (Optional but HIGHLY recommended)

If you're looking for juice and not a smoothie, straining is important!

  1. Strain the Mixture: Use a kitchen strainer to strain the juice, or if you’re feeling adventurous , you can also use a CLEAN, thin cloth like a pillow case or even a tshirt if a finer strain is desired.

While this step is optional, straining can help remove pulp for a refined drink. Be ready for a bit of a mess, but it will be worth it!

  1. Enjoy the Pulp: If you choose not to strain, the pulp adds dietary fiber and is perfectly fine to enjoy.

Serving Your Watermelon Juice

Your watermelon juice is now ready to be served!

  1. Pour and Enjoy: Pour the juice into glasses and serve immediately. For a decorative touch, add a slice of lime or a few whole berries as a garnish!

  2. Chill for Later: If you have any leftovers, store them in the fridge for a refreshing snack later.

This juice is perfect for hot days, picnics, or a fun afternoon treat!

Celebrate Summer’s Flavor

Making watermelon juice at home is easy and a fantastic way to cherish the final warm days of summer. With just a few simple ingredients, you can create a delicious and nutritious drink that everyone in your family will love. So gather your family, start blending, and enjoy the sweet taste of summer in every glass!

Don't forget that cooking and experimenting in the kitchen should be fun! Feel free to explore different fruits or flavors in your watermelon juice. Happy juicing!
